The "P" input of the AP-8 requires an active-low, open-collector signal which is exactly what we get from the output terminals of our controllers. Use the diagram below to connect the AP-8 to the EZ-8; a short pulse on Channel 8 will start the segment selected by the 0-1-2 DIP switches.

Jon,
Now thats what I was looking for, excelent visuals.
Couldn't get them to work with each other now I will try it this way.
Anyway the EZ-8 can call one of the eight files on the AP8 or is that asking to much?
When using the "P" input of the AP-8 you can only play the segment selected by the DIP switches; to be able to play any file you need to use serial comms (e.g., from a Prop-1/2/SX).
Hi All I have a possible concern.
I am assembling another one of these configurations.
When I turn on the AP-8 the EZ-8 has a faint glow at the V+ terminal.
Should I be concerned about this?
below is the configuration, with control items going into EZ-8 ground and Channel 1
frpm the AP-8 P input header

The Play input on the AP-8 is pulled up to 5v so there is a little bit of leakage current through the flyback diode inside the ULN. This is not a problem.
Excellent!
thanks you for those Wise words!
