Title: upload of EZ 8 program
Post by: Mark R on March 25, 2011, 11:47:55 AM
I have programmed my ez 8 manually. Now I want to upload the program and then download it onto other EZ 8's. How do I go about doing this?

Have you downloaded and installed Vixen 2.5?

I'm sure I've posted these steps elsewhere, but let me run through it fresh so I'm sure.

* Power up EZ-8, set mode switch to position 9, connect to PC
* Open a blank sequence in Vixen -- I use the attached.

* Make sure that you have the EZ-8 driver assigned to the sequence
  -- Click on "Attached Plugins"
  -- Select EFX-TEK EZ-8 from "Available Plugins"
  -- Click "Use"

(http://www.efx-tek.com/files/ez-8_vixen_02.jpg)

* Configure for your serial port
  -- Click on the EFX-TEK EZ-8 from "Plugins in Use"
  -- Click "Plugin Setup"

(http://www.efx-tek.com/files/ez-8_vixen_03.jpg)

* Select your Com port
 -- Click "OK" to close the Com port setup dialog
 -- Click "Done" to close the "Sequence Plugin Mapping" dialog

* From the Main menu, select Add-Ins, then EFX-TEK EZ-8 Upload/Download

(http://www.efx-tek.com/files/ez-8_vixen_05.jpg)

* Wait for the EZ-8 to connect to Vixen
* Select the first radio button for uploading
* Click "Start" to upload your sequence
* Click "Close" when done

Now that you have the sequence in the PC you can save it, modify it, play it live (press the play button), and then download it to the EZ-8.  Use the Upload/Download dialog again, selecting the section option for downloading.

It's much easier to do than describe here -- after you've gone through the steps you'll find it's quite simple.

Have fun.
