Title: dancing lights
Post by: brittio on November 08, 2010, 09:36:37 AM
I've been tasked with creating a light show outside of our haunted house next year.  It should be like a "christmas light show" only the music will obviously be scarier...  I've used your products (prop1 and ap8) a lot over the years and was hoping you could recommend what products to use, and any tricks you can think of.  Thanks for the help.

If you really want to sync to music to a big light show then a PC is probably in order, running a program like Vixen (freeware).  At the moment, you can connect a few of our products to Vixen but not as conveniently as what's in the pipeline:

HC-8+ : This is an 8-channel DC output board that you can use for high intensity LEDs, a popular choice lately (replaces DC-16)
FC-4+ : This is a 4-channel AC output board designed for 120VAC incandescent lighting (replaces FC-4)

What both offer over the products they replace is a built-in RS-485 connection which makes them far easier to network (e.g., DMX-512) than existing products.  Of course, for audio the PC takes care of that, as well as scheduling and organizing shows.
