Hi all,

I am currently using a Prop-2 to interface between my laptop (running VSA) and my 3-axis skulls.  This year I am thinking about changing the location where the laptop is and moving the laptop and the Prop-2 about 50 ft away from the skulls.  I have used cat-5 network cable to wire up the skulls, so I am thinking I could just splice in a long network cable to make up the distance.  Is 50 ft too much for the signals from the Prop-2?

Thanks in advance!
Robert

You can't run RS-232 that far -- reliably, anyway. There are USB extender devices that will do that. You might need a few bits, but that's what it takes. RS-232 is a short-wire solution. It's not differential so using CAT-5 cable is of no consequence, in fact, it's a hindrance because it's so small.

I was afraid you might say that....

Due to construction at my house, my normal layout won't work....so back to the drawing board.

Thanks!
