Description
The RC-4 is a perfect companion for prop enhancement and lighted displays. If you need to control 120 VAC loads you can now do so safely with one of our prop controllers and the RC-4. Three conductor cables (also available from EFX-TEK) safely commute the low-voltage command signal to the solid state relay (SSR). Small yet bright LEDs indicate which loads are "hot."

The RC-4 relay control board supports the popular Crydom D2W203F series of SSR. These relays can switch 3A at up to 240 VAC, though it is recommended that you design your system to use 120 VAC for safety margin.

Mounting holes accommodate #6 size screws to keep this board affixed securely. Large screw terminals accommodate up to #14 AWG wire. Always remember, voltages in excess of 60 volts can be lethal. Use every precaution to ensure safety. If you are unsure about what is safe and what might not be, just ask us. We are always happy to help.

Note
The RC-4 gets power from the host controller (Prop-1, Prop-2, or Prop-SX) and, therefore, must be placed first in a chain of EFX-TEK accessories connected to a controller as the other devices (AP-8, DC-16, FC-4) do not route +5 VDC power through.

Technical Note
The ULN2803A output driver can interfere with serial communications between a prop controller (Prop-1, Prop-2, or Prop-SX) and the RC-4. EFX-TEK recommends that P7 (Prop-1) or P15 (Prop-2 and Prop-SX) is used for serial communications, and that the ULN2803A is replaced with a (7-channel) ULN2003A to prevent interference.
